The world turned blue and white for Finland’s 100th birthday
Finland’s 100 years of independence celebrations culminated this week with blue-and-white light shows across Finland and in more than 30 countries. Over 50 iconic venues and buildings across the globe were illuminated with blue and white lights in honour of Finland’s centenary of independence.
The sites included the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro; Globen in Stockholm; and Manhattan’s Midtown, to name a few. See the list of the illuminated venues here.
The concept was coordinated in collaboration with the Finland 100 organization and the network of Finnish embassies with partners in a number of countries.
